How to store seeds in right way?
Like storing medicine, storing seeds is also high strict. Different storing time requires different room temperature, humidity, and water content.
1. Short term storing (2~5 years): room temperature should be in 15~20C, humidity 50~60%, water content < 12%. Please note, in short term storage, the seed need to be packed in paper bags, plastic bags, or in a glass bottle.
2. Middle term storing (10~30 years): room temperature should be in 0~10C, humidity < 60%, water content 6~9%. Packing should be airtight & airproof, like a metal box, aluminum foil bag, etc.
3. Long term storing (30~50 years, or longer): room temperature should be in -10~-20C, humidity < 60%, water content 5±1%. Package the same as the middle term storing.
So before building a seed cold room, we need to consider how long the seed will be stored, then we can know which design is better for the seed.
